GorBot DiscordDiscord roleplay community control
GORBOT CURRENCY SYSTEM
A flexible, server-scoped economy engine for roleplay communities, from simple coin systems to multi-currency worlds with jobs, organizations, treasuries, exchange, and economic analytics.
WHAT THE CURRENCY SYSTEM IS
One economy engine, many different roleplay worlds.

GorBot's modern Economy system is server-scoped. Each Discord server defines its own economy, wallet rules, currencies, jobs, organizations, and optional exchange behavior.

The design intentionally does not assume that every community is Gorean, medieval, fantasy, or even coin-based. A server can use a built-in setting such as Dungeons & Dragons, Fallout, Cyberpunk, Star Wars, World of Warcraft, Chronicles of Gor, or a neutral Custom / Homebrew economy.

The important ownership rule is:

 • the server owner or authorized manager defines the economy;
 • players participate inside that economy;
 • player balances never automatically become another server's balances;
 • a player's preferred currency can only be chosen from currencies that server has enabled.

This keeps one Discord community's economic rules from leaking into another.

Preferred Currency is not a personal universe selector. A player cannot independently turn a server's economy into Fallout, D&D, or another preset. Presets are server configuration templates. Players choose only among the currencies their selected server makes available.

PLAYER WALLETS
Your roleplay wallet follows the economy of the Discord server you select.

To use the player wallet:

Sign in to the GorBot Dashboard with Discord.

Open My Roleplay → Roleplay Wallet & Inventory.

Choose the Discord server whose economy you want to view.

Select Load wallet.

Review the server's enabled currencies and your cash/bank balances.

If more than one currency is available, choose a Preferred / Active Currency.

Use Deposit, Withdraw, Player Transfer, or other enabled wallet actions.

Use Open Full Economy when you want the selected server's complete Economy workspace.

The preferred-currency setting belongs to your Discord account and the selected Discord server. Your preferred currency on one server does not alter another server.

What Preferred Currency changes

Preferred Currency is used as the player's default/primary currency selection where appropriate. It can influence which currency is shown first and which currency a supported wallet action selects by default.

It does not:

 • change the server's preset;
 • create a new currency;
 • convert one balance into another;
 • move money between Discord servers;
 • give the player administrator authority.

When only one currency is enabled, the dropdown will correctly contain only one choice.

Common player actions

ActionMeaning
DepositMoves an amount from cash/pocket funds into the bank when banking is enabled.
WithdrawMoves an amount from the bank back into cash/pocket funds.
Player TransferSends supported currency to another eligible player/character according to the server's wallet model.
Preferred CurrencySaves the player's default currency choice for that server without converting balances.
ExchangeOn Server Premium, converts between currencies only when the server owner has configured an allowed exchange pair.
WALLET MODES
Servers decide whether wealth belongs to the Discord account, a character, or both.
Account Wallet

Money belongs to the Discord account inside that server. Changing active characters does not create a different account wallet.

Character Wallet

Each eligible GorBot roleplay character can have a separate wallet in that Discord server. Switching characters can therefore switch the economic identity being used.

Hybrid Wallet

Server Premium can combine character cash/pocket funds with an account-level bank, giving separate character spending money while preserving a shared account banking layer.

Once meaningful live balances exist, changing to an incompatible wallet model is not treated as a harmless display preference. GorBot protects against silently reinterpreting ownership of existing money.

BUILT-IN ECONOMY PRESETS
Ready-made starting templates for common roleplay settings.

GorBot NodeApp 2.9.0.4 includes 32 built-in economy templates. New server economies start from the neutral Custom / Homebrew template unless an owner chooses something else.

Presets are starting definitions. They can include one currency, hierarchical denominations, or multiple independent currencies.

Presets are not endorsements or claims of affiliation. They are roleplay configuration templates intended to help communities model fictional economies. GorBot remains an independent community project.

DENOMINATIONS & VALUE RATIOS
GorBot does not assume every economy uses 10:1 or 100:1 money.

A currency family can use multiple denominations with defined ratios.

Examples:

 • a traditional fantasy system can use Copper → Silver → Gold;
 • World of Warcraft can use 100 Copper = 1 Silver and 100 Silver = 1 Gold;
 • Harry Potter can use 29 Knuts = 1 Sickle and 17 Sickles = 1 Galleon;
 • Chronicles of Gor can retain its configured Tarsk/Tarn denomination family;
 • a digital setting can use a single unit such as Credits with no lower denomination.

This makes denomination formatting a property of the server's selected currency rather than a hardcoded Gorean assumption.

MULTIPLE ACTIVE CURRENCIES
Some worlds need more than one kind of money.

A Free server can choose any one built-in preset as its base economy.

A Server Premium economy can go further and add another preset's currency family without replacing the existing base preset. This is non-destructive: existing balances are not rewritten merely because another currency becomes available.

This supports settings such as:

 • national currencies;
 • faction currencies;
 • regional currencies;
 • exotic/rare currencies;
 • commodities that are tracked independently;
 • cross-world or portal-based roleplay.

Players then see the additional enabled currencies in their wallet and Preferred Currency selector.

CURRENCY EXCHANGE
Conversion happens only when the server explicitly permits it.

Server Premium can configure supported fixed exchange pairs between enabled currencies.

An exchange rule defines which source currency may convert into which destination currency and at what configured rate. Players use an explicit exchange action when they actually want to convert funds.

Changing Preferred Currency does not call exchange.

Currencies can also remain independent. A server does not have to define an exchange rate merely because two currencies exist.

GorBot roleplay currency is virtual community value. It is not real-world money, has no promised cash value, and is not a payment or investment product.

JOBS & ECONOMY ACTIVITIES
Turn roleplay occupations and activities into configurable economic faucets.

Server owners can configure jobs with properties such as:

 • job name and description;
 • payout currency;
 • minimum and maximum payout;
 • cooldown;
 • success chance;
 • required Discord role;
 • success/failure roleplay text.

This lets the same engine represent a merchant, physician, guard, miner, scholar, scavenger, netrunner, caravan worker, adventurer, or a completely custom occupation.

Server Premium expands the system with more jobs, advanced profile/stat requirements, and configurable activities/gathering definitions.

Profile-aware jobs

Advanced jobs can use supported character-profile requirements where configured. A tabletop community can therefore build a job around a character's profile style or qualifying field values rather than relying only on Discord roles.

ORGANIZATIONS & TREASURIES
Shared money for cities, factions, guilds, corporations, and whatever your world calls them.

Organizations are intentionally generic. A server can create its own:

 • City;
 • Nation;
 • Faction;
 • Guild;
 • House;
 • Clan;
 • Corporation;
 • Temple;
 • Adventuring Party;
 • Settlement;
 • or another custom organization concept.

An organization can maintain treasury balances in accepted server currencies. Access can be delegated according to the server's configured roles/permissions.

A Gorean community might call these city or caste treasuries. A fantasy community might use guild banks. A science-fiction community might use faction or corporate accounts. The underlying mechanism is the same.

Premium organization scale

Free servers can create a small number of organizations/treasuries for meaningful community use. Server Premium increases the capacity substantially and supports advanced organization/hierarchy/delegation behavior.

Server owners should grant treasury authority narrowly. A treasury role is economic authority and should not be given merely because someone is a general roleplay moderator.

LEDGER, AUDIT & ANALYTICS
A roleplay economy is more useful when administrators can understand where value comes from and where it goes.

GorBot records supported Economy transactions in an authoritative server ledger. Transaction records can identify information such as the server, currency, source/destination, amount, reason, actor, character context, timestamp, and resulting balance information as supported by the operation.

This is important for:

 • investigating an unexpected balance;
 • reviewing administrator grants/deductions;
 • understanding player transfers;
 • reviewing organization treasury activity;
 • checking job/activity payouts;
 • reviewing currency exchange;
 • protecting the economy from duplicate or ambiguous HA transactions.

Economy writes use RackNerd's authoritative shared state rather than trusting one sibling's local cache as final truth.

Economic health

Basic economy information is available on Free servers. Server Premium can expose deeper analytics such as currency faucets and sinks, helping owners understand whether value is entering the economy much faster than it is leaving.

Future economy modules may build further on this foundation, but unfinished shop/crafting/market simulation features are not advertised as completed modern-Economy modules.

Players do not need a separate paid subscription to participate in a Premium server's economy. Premium is a Discord-server entitlement. If the server enables a Premium economy feature for its community, normal players use that feature under the server's rules.

The live Plans & Features page and the current plan-policy configuration are authoritative if a published capacity changes after this guide was written.

SERVER OWNER SETUP
Build the economy before players depend on it.

Recommended setup sequence:

Open the selected server's Economy Manager.

Choose the base preset, or remain on Custom / Homebrew.

Choose the wallet model before meaningful balances exist.

Review the preset currencies and denomination ratios.

Configure starter cash/bank amounts where desired.

Decide whether banking and player transfers are allowed.

Add the allowed custom currency if using a Free custom economy, or additional currencies on Premium.

Create organizations/treasuries and assign only the roles that should manage them.

Create jobs and set sensible payout/cooldown values.

On Premium, add optional activities, additional preset currency families, and exchange pairs.

Test with a non-owner player account.

Review the ledger after initial transactions.

Adjust faucets/sinks if the economy creates value faster than the community can meaningfully spend it.

Do not expose every advanced module simply because it exists. A simple economy is often easier for players to understand.

Legacy Gorean wallet import

Existing communities that intentionally used GorBot's older Gorean wallet can use the controlled Legacy Gorean wallet import through Economy Manager.

The import is intended as a one-time transition into the new server-scoped Economy. Existing non-zero destination wallets are protected rather than silently overwritten.

SAFETY, COMPATIBILITY & LEGACY ITEMS
The system protects existing value instead of silently reinterpreting it.

GorBot applies several important protections:

 • economy balances are scoped to the Discord server;
 • currencies use server-specific internal identities, not just their display names;
 • a currency named "Gold" on one server is not automatically the same currency as "Gold" on another;
 • unsafe base-preset replacement is blocked after meaningful live value exists;
 • incompatible wallet-mode reinterpretation is blocked after live value exists;
 • financial mutations use authoritative commit behavior;
 • transaction logic is designed to avoid duplicate/ambiguous multi-node payouts;
 • player currency preferences cannot create currencies the server did not enable;
 • Premium downgrade behavior does not silently destroy existing configuration/value.

Legacy inventory/shop/crafting

The older Character inventory, shop, salvage-value, and crafting systems predate the server-scoped Economy engine and remain global character compatibility data.

They are deliberately kept separate from arbitrary server currencies for now. Automatically allowing a global item bought through one server's currency to be sold into another server's currency could create cross-server value exploits.

For the current design:

 • Roleplay Wallet = the modern server-scoped Economy;
 • legacy item value = separate compatibility accounting for old inventory/shop/crafting records.

No existing inventory is deleted. A future controlled migration can make item economics server-scoped without creating artificial value.

CONTACT & FEEDBACK
Currency questions, bug reports, billing issues, and economy feedback now use GorBot's unified Contact Us process.

If this guide does not resolve an Economy or Currency issue, use the public Contact Us form.

For a currency-specific request, choose the reason that best matches the problem:

 • Economy / Currency — wallet, currency, denomination, exchange, treasury, job, or economy-configuration questions;
 • Billing / Server Premium — questions about Premium economy capabilities or server billing;
 • Bug Report — a reproducible problem with a wallet/economy feature;
 • Feature Suggestion / Feedback — requests or ideas for future Economy improvements;
 • General Support — anything that does not fit another category.

The selected reason routes the request to the configured GorBot support mailbox. You do not need to know the private mailbox address.

After submission

A successful Contact Us submission:

validates the selected support reason and message;

routes it through the configured support mailbox;

uses the visitor's email address as the reply address;

displays a reference number such as GOR-20260822-ABC123;

allows the GorBot support team to answer through normal email / Administrator Gateway Mail.

Keep the reference number if you need to follow up.

No attachments and no secrets

The public Contact Us form does not accept file attachments.

When reporting an Economy problem, include the Discord server name, the affected wallet/currency feature, what you expected, what actually happened, and any visible error message.

Never include passwords, Discord bot tokens, API keys, database credentials, OAuth secrets, mailbox passwords, recovery codes, or other sensitive credentials.

Feedback uses the same form

The older standalone Submit Feedback path has been consolidated into Contact Us.

Use:

Contact Us → Feature Suggestion / Feedback

New feedback is routed by email rather than creating a new entry in the old public Feedback Inbox workflow. Historical feedback records remain retained for administrative history.

CURRENCY SYSTEM FAQ
The questions most likely to come up when a community begins using the Economy system.
Why does my Preferred Currency dropdown show only one currency?

The selected Discord server currently has only one currency enabled. Players cannot select currencies the server has not enabled.

Can I personally switch my wallet to D&D or Fallout?

No. The server owner controls the server economy. You can choose a Preferred Currency only from that server's enabled currencies.
Does Preferred Currency convert my money?

No. It changes the default/primary currency choice. Conversion requires an explicit Premium exchange action configured by the server.

Can different servers use different economies?

Yes. That is a core design goal. Your balances and currency preferences are isolated by Discord server.
Can a Premium server use more than one preset?

It keeps one base preset but can add another built-in preset's currency family non-destructively. That makes multiple currency families available without rewriting existing balances.

Do players need Premium?

No separate player subscription is required to participate in a server's Premium economy features.
Why can't the owner freely replace the preset after players have money?

Because that could reinterpret existing balances as a completely different currency. GorBot blocks unsafe changes and requires a controlled migration instead.

Why is my old item shop separate from the new wallet?

The old item system is global character data, while modern Economy balances are server-scoped. Keeping them separate prevents cross-server item/currency arbitrage until a safe item migration is built.
Where do I report a Currency or Economy problem?

Use Contact Us and select Economy / Currency, Bug Report, Billing / Server Premium, or another appropriate reason. A successful submission returns a GOR-... reference number.

Can I attach a screenshot to an Economy support request?

No. The public Contact Us form intentionally does not accept attachments. Describe the visible error and relevant wallet/currency context in the message instead.
